Ride 2 Manchester Pride 2008 | Pride Warm Up Mix

My Ride 2 Manchester Pride 2008 mix, recorded to get everyone in the mood for one of the biggest weekends in the Manchester calendar.

Manchester Pride brings thousands of people into the Gay Village around Canal Street each year for a weekend of celebrations, music and packed dancefloors. This mix was put together as a warm up for the Pride weekend, featuring a blend of funky and commercial house to set the party atmosphere.

Ultra Dirt 4! | Dirty House Mix

Ultra Dirt 4 keeps the Ultra Dirt series moving with another session of darker house sounds and driving club energy.

This mix follows the same tougher direction that made the earlier editions so popular. It is packed with dirty house grooves, big beats and the kind of tracks that worked well when you wanted something a bit harder and more twisted.

Ultra Dirt 3! | Dirty House Mix

Ultra Dirt 3 builds on the sound of the first two mixes, keeping that twisted and energetic dirty house style running strong.

By this stage, the Ultra Dirt mixes had become a regular change of direction from the funkier house sets I was also known for. This one keeps the pressure on with tougher tracks and a more late-night club feel.

Ride 2 Maspalomas Pride 2008 | Gran Canaria Pride Warm Up Mix

My Ride 2 Maspalomas Pride 2008 mix, recorded ahead of Maspalomas Pride in Gran Canaria, where I was booked to play a number of pool parties during the Pride week.

Maspalomas Pride is one of the most popular Pride celebrations in Europe, attracting thousands of visitors each year to Gran Canaria for a week of sunshine, music and parties. I was invited to be part of the line up in 2008, with the events promoted by Steve Morris.

This mix was put together to capture the feel of the week, featuring funky and uplifting house tracks perfect for poolside parties and Pride celebrations in the sun.

Gaydio | Canal Street Sessions 2008

Gaydio | Canal Street Sessions 2008 brings together another three mixes that were originally broadcast on Gaydio, Manchester's LGBT radio station during 2008.

As with the previous Canal Street Sessions, these were originally aired as three separate one-hour radio shows. For this podcast, I've combined them into one continuous three-hour mix, capturing the different sounds I was playing across Manchester's clubs at the time.

The mix opens with funky commercial house, builds into a selection of peak time floorfillers, before finishing with a full-on dirty house session, reflecting the progression of another typical night on the dancefloor.

By 2008, Gaydio had become an important part of Manchester's LGBT community, giving local DJs the opportunity to share their music with a wider audience while championing the city's thriving club scene. I was proud to be part of those broadcasts.

Whether you remember listening to these shows when they first aired or you're discovering them for the first time, I hope this mix brings back some great memories of the Manchester club scene.

Funky Blue Tomato | Funky House Mix

Funky Blue Tomato is a funky house mix recorded for promoter Steve Morris, who booked me for a number of events through his company Blue Tomato.

Blue Tomato was responsible for organising several club nights and events across the scene, and this mix was put together to reflect the kind of funky, uplifting house music that worked perfectly for those dancefloors.

Ultra Dirt 2! | Dirty House Mix

Ultra Dirt 2 continued the darker and tougher house sound that started with the first mix in the series.

After the response to Ultra Dirt 1, I wanted to push further into that dirty house vibe with more driving beats, heavier grooves and a slightly more underground edge. It was clear by this point that the series had found its audience.

Sundays @ Via | Via Fossa Canal Street Mix

This mix captures the sound of my Sunday night sets at Via Fossa on Canal Street in Manchester.

Bringing together a blend of new and classic tracks, the mix reflects the style I used to play on Sunday nights in the Village, a mix of funky and commercial house designed to keep the dancefloor moving and the weekend going strong.

Ultra Dirt 1! | Dirty House Mix

Ultra Dirt 1 was the start of a mix series where I moved into a darker, dirtier house sound than I was usually known for at the time.

Up to that point, I was mainly associated with funky house, so this was something a bit different. The mix leans more towards chunky basslines, twisted synths and a tougher club sound. It turned out to be really popular and brought in a lot of new followers, which encouraged me to carry on with the series.

Gaydio | Canal Street Sessions 2007

Gaydio | Canal Street Sessions 2007 brings together three mixes that were originally broadcast on Gaydio, Manchester's LGBT radio station, in August 2007.

At the time, the mixes were aired as three separate one-hour shows, taking listeners on a musical journey through the different sounds I was playing in clubs across Manchester. For this podcast, I've brought them together into one continuous three-hour mix.

The set begins with funky disco house, builds into a chunky peak time house set, before finishing with a full-on dirty house session, reflecting the progression of a typical night on the dancefloor.

Gaydio was just beginning its journey in Manchester back then, becoming an important part of the city's LGBT community and giving local DJs a platform to share their music with a wider audience. It was a pleasure to be part of those early broadcasts.

So, whether you want to relive those days or discover the sounds of the Manchester club scene from 2007, sit back, turn it up and enjoy three hours of house music.
